Our story
A family-run food shop, rooted in Bedfordshire.
Box & Burrow began with a simple goal: to make really good, local produce easier to access — whether that means ordering a box online, choosing a seasonal bundle for a special occasion, or topping up your fridge with a weekly delivery.
We’re a small family business, growing fruit, veg, and herbs across our own plots in Ampthill and Barton-le-Clay. Alongside what we grow ourselves, we work with a growing network of passionate local market garden growers — people who share our commitment to flavour, sustainability, and low-mileage food.
Our bread is freshly baked by The Cottage Bakery in Ampthill. Our free-range eggs come from Pavenham. Our milk arrives in glass bottles from a small dairy just over the border in Hitchin. There’s cheese from a brilliant Bedfordshire producer, honey from Barton-le-Clay, and a changing line-up of handmade goods from makers nearby — everything local, everything chosen with care.
It all started in our back garden, with two tiny but determined helpers (Hendrix and Jesse) and a few rows of chard. What grew from that first harvest is more than just a business.
Box & Burrow is a community-focused way to reconnect with the food on your plate — no fuss, no supermarkets, just good produce from people who live and grow nearby.

"We’re not trying to reinvent food — just bring it back to where it started: local, simple, and full of flavour."
