Our story
A family-run food shop, rooted in Bedfordshire.
Box & Burrow began with a simple goal: to make really good produce easy to access — whether that means popping into our shop (opening late 2025), having a box delivered to your door, or picking up your shopping without carrying it home.
We’re a small family business, growing fruit and veg in Ampthill and Barton-le-Clay, with a growing network of brilliant local producers who share our values.
Our bread is freshly baked by The Cottage Bakery in Ampthill, our eggs come from free-range hens in Pavenham, and our milk is delivered in glass bottles from a dairy just over the border in Hitchin. Cheese? That’s from a fantastic producer in Bedford, Honey from Barton-le-Clay, Crisps from Cambridge. And anything we haven’t been able to grow ourselves is supplied through Bedfordshire Growers — a local cooperative of farmers working together to supply fresh, seasonal produce from the surrounding fields.
What started in our own back garden — sparked by two very enthusiastic little helpers — has grown into a community-focused shop with one mission: to bring honest, local food to more people, in ways that fit real life.

"We’re not trying to reinvent food — just bring it back to where it started: local, simple, and full of flavour."
