What we do

At Box & Burrow, we connect local people with local produce — fresh from the fields, farms, kitchens and hedgerows of Bedfordshire and its neighbours.

We grow a wide variety of seasonal vegetables, herbs and edible flowers on our own plot, but that’s just the beginning. We also work with a trusted network of local growers, bakers, cheesemakers, egg farmers, and artisan producers to gather the very best that our area has to offer — all within 35 miles of Ampthill.

Rather than opening a traditional farm shop, we’ve chosen a more flexible and accessible approach: delivering local food direct to your door. Through our subscription boxes, online orders, and occasional themed boxes, we aim to bring the flavour and charm of a proper farm shop to more people — without the need to leave home.

You’ll find vibrant veg picked at peak ripeness, eggs from nearby flocks, still-warm loaves from local ovens, fresh herbs, handmade preserves, farmhouse cheeses, and milk in glass bottles — all carefully chosen, always full of flavour, and proudly local.

Box & Burrow began with a small patch of soil, two toddlers (Hendrix and Jesse), and a shared curiosity about where food really comes from. Growing our own veg opened our eyes — the taste was incredible. But finding a local shop that stocked more than the basics was tough. That’s when we started imagining something better.

We’re building the kind of food experience we wished existed: rooted in local produce, easy to access, ever-changing with the seasons, and open to everyone — not just those who live near a farm shop. No long drives. No guesswork. Just good food, grown close to home, delivered with care.
